
The Riyadh International Book Fair is putting the final touches in preparation for its launch scheduled for the first of next October, after the previous session was postponed; Due to the precautionary measures taken by the health authorities in the Kingdom to limit the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid 19), the next session will be held in the front of Riyadh.
The new edition is witnessing a significant expansion in the exhibition's activities and various events; Which represents 16 cultural sectors, amid the participation of the most important publishing and reading houses from different countries of the world, with a total of 950 publishing houses, distributed among 27 countries; The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the guest of honor of the exhibition are the Republic of Iraq, in addition to Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Japan, India, Mauritania, Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco Australia, America, Britain, France, Turkey, Italy, and Sweden.
The Republic of Iraq will attend the exhibition as a guest of honor for the Riyadh International Book Fair, after His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Literature Authority, announced the selection of Iraq in appreciation of the brotherly relations that unite the two brotherly peoples of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. And to enhance joint cooperation efforts between the two countries in all development fields, including the cultural field.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority will organize a conference for publishers on October 4-5, as the first conference of its kind in the Kingdom, which is considered a starting point towards developing and strengthening the publishing sector at the local and regional levels, as it provides an ideal opportunity to build and strengthen relations between publishers at various levels. ascending Local, Arab and international, including dialogue sessions and workshops in the field of publishing, in addition to various sessions dealing with the process of transferring rights and translation and its opportunities.
In the new session of the exhibition, the authority seeks to confirm its interest in supporting modern publishing channels; Such as the audio and digital book, in addition to its attention to the accompanying technical and technical aspects, within the framework of the improvements made by the authority in the vision of the exhibition and its development to keep pace with the requirements of the national strategy for culture, and to achieve the goals of the Ministry of Culture aimed at making culture a way of life and raising the level of its contribution to national economic growth, and in Strengthening the Kingdom's position in the world.
