
The Minister of Culture and Information, Hamza Balloul, confirmed the government's support for cultural projects. He pointed out the importance of completing the first phase of the project to rehabilitate the National Museum. During his speech today at the meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Museum Rehabilitation Project in the buildings of the National Authority of Museums, he praised the presence of Professor Rashid Saeed, First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information, and Professor Graham Abdel Qader, Undersecretary of the Ministry, praising the efforts of the Italian Agency for Development and UNESCO in the Khartoum office in implementing this vital project. The Minister pointed out the need to discuss with partners in this regard. He affirmed the government's support for cultural projects, especially with regard to the museum, which contains the country's cultures and civilizations. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information, Mr. Graham Abdel Qader, spoke at the meeting, stressing the importance of rehabilitating the museum, which includes the civilizations of Sudan since the ancient kingdoms. He pointed out the importance of the archaeological, social, educational, economic, humanitarian and symbolic of the citizen. He praised the parties supporting the museum's rehabilitation project. He stated that the purpose of the meeting was to identify the steps taken in the rehabilitation of the museum. On the other hand, Professor Abdelkader Abdeen Mohamed Saleh, responsible for science and culture at the UNESCO Khartoum office, reviewed the steps that have been taken regarding the rehabilitation processes and the efforts of the partners (the Italian Agency for Development and UNESCO) in rehabilitating the museum. He added that they are looking forward to strengthening and developing the antiquities sector in Sudan. For his part, the Italian Ambassador in Khartoum, Vaslo Ganoluca, affirmed the Italian Agency's commitment to complete the rehabilitation of the museum on time. He referred to the obstacles that faced the implementation of rehabilitation, especially the Corona pandemic, stressing his country's interest in the issue of rehabilitating the museum.
