
SESRIC is organizing a Training Course on “Food Waste Reduction” on 10-12 August 2021, with the participation of nearly 100 experts from the relevant Ministries of 24 OIC Member Countries.
At the opening, H.E. Mr. Nebil DABUR, DG of SESRIC, emphasized that food insecurity stands as a serious challenge to many countries around the world, including many OIC MCs and the efficient management and control of food loss and waste is a crucial issue to be considered.
The DG also added that according to the FAO, nearly one-third of food is lost or wasted globally, which amounts to about 1.3 billion tonnes per year and the global dilemma of food loss and waste could be controlled and addressed by adopting relevant policies and raising awareness.
