
The Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU) and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in coordination with the Mauritanian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science and Mauritania Radio, will hold here on October 2-3 a meeting of experts on ways to develop programs of introducing Islam in radio and television networks of African states.
The meeting aims to raise awareness of the important role of radio programs in introducing Islam and its civilization, activating the role of radio journalists in the face of hyperbole and extremism. It also seeks to disseminate the culture of moderation, as well as introducing technical and cognitive requirements for the development of radio programs on sensitizing people to Islam and spreading its tolerant values in African societies.
The agenda of the meeting includes a number of topics and issues related to the audio media in light of the new media development, introducing the values of tolerance in Islam, the requirements of developing radio programs to introduce the religion and the dissemination of the middle way of Islamic culture. The experiences of participating countries in the dissemination of Islam will be presented during the event.
The meeting will be attended by radio journalists representing a number of French-speaking African member states of the Islamic Broadcasting Union
